Commander Keith Parks has served with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department for 33 years. Currently assigned to the East County Sheriff’s Station in Thousand Oaks, he manages the patrol operations for Oak Park and the unincorporated areas adjacent to Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Moorpark. Specialized units under his command include the Patrol Services Division administration, the department’s Tactical Response Team, as well as the Sheriff’s K-9 and Reserve Deputy programs.
Promoted to commander in 2000, Keith has served terms as the Chief of Police for Thousand Oaks and as the manager of Sheriff's Human Resources and the Court Services Bureau.
Keith grew up in Thousand Oaks and graduated from California Lutheran University. He has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge.
In February 2004, Keith was recognized as "Man of the Year" by the Thousand Oaks / Westlake Village Chamber of Commerce. He has also been a member of the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club since 2000 and is currently President of this very dynamic and involved community service organization.
Commander Parks began his involvement with the Sheriff’s Department as a teenage volunteer in the Thousand Oaks Police Explorer Scout program while a student at Newbury Park High School. He believes that the continuing success of the Sheriff’s Department comes from its partnerships with the people who live and work in Ventura County and he encourages community participation within the operations of the Sheriff’s Department.
