UPPER OJAI SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM HONORED BY SHERIFF BROOKS
On May 15, 2006, Sheriff Bob Brooks honored the Ventura County Sheriff's Department Upper Ojai
Search and Rescue Team with the presentation of certificates and a luncheon in their honor.
On March 25, 2006, this Team responded to Rose
Valley on a call of stranded hikers. During darkness,
with temperatures dropping into the 30's, they simultaneously tended to an injured hiker and set
up two different technical rope systems to rescue the stranded hikers.
The Peace Officers Association of Ventura County sponsored a Medal of Valor Awards Dinner to
recognize the heroic efforts of peace officers and
civilians of Ventura County. Among the civilians
honored were Dr. Jeffrey Nordella, Jamie Nordella,
and Kevin Brown.
Sheriff's Deputies honored were Stephen Wade,
Michael Leslie, Matthew de la Huerta, Kevin Marple,
Luis Alvarez, rank Underlin, David Brantley, Christine Returra, Todd Inglis, Greg Cadman, Scott Ramirez, and Rafael Meza.
