The Pre-Trial Detention Facility is located in Ventura, California at the Government Center, 800 South Victoria Avenue. This facility houses all female inmates, unsentenced male inmates, and those inmates who require 24-hour medical care.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: A malfunctioning elevator will impact inmate visiting for inmates housed at the Pre-Trial Detention facility located at the Ventura County Government Center in the City of Ventura. The only public elevator designed to transport visitors to inmate visiting areas malfunctioned today and is not expected to be repaired for several weeks.
Visiting schedules will remain unchanged. However, visitors must be aware that visiting will necessitate ascending a stairwell with either 46 or 78 steps depending on the location of the inmate within the jail facility. Accommodations will be made for members of the public who are disabled and are visiting inmates within the jail facility.
Additional visiting methods will be developed and announced during the repair period, including video visiting and prescheduled visitation. A public information telephone number will also be announced in the near future.
Welcome to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility’s (PTDF) web page. This facility was opened in 1980 and can currently house approx. 890 sentenced and unsentenced inmates. This facility, along with the East Valley booking facility, accepts arrestees from every law enforcement agency in Ventura County. We process over 29,000 bookings and releases every year. The types of inmates housed here are general population, violent/assaultive offenders, psychiatric, and inmates needing medical services. Our great team includes over 250 employees, including deputies, Sheriff Service Technicians, intake and release specialists, food service staff, medical service staff and clerical support staff. It is this staff of professionals that keeps this facility operating safely and efficiently 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The motto of the PTDF is “We Do It All”, and this staff certainly does.

The designations A, B, C, D, E, F, G, 3MS, Segregated Housing, and Special Housing are inmate housing locations. You must know where the inmate is housed before making any plans to visit.
