January 11, 2005 - THERE IS A BOIL WATER ORDER for Casitas Municipal Water District


(January 11 - 8:22 a.m.) Persons whose vehicles were stranded between the mudslides on Highway 101freeway in the La Conchita area, may go to the intersection of Oak and Thompson in Ventura. Contact the CHP officer for information on retrieving your vehicle.

(January 11) The coastal Amtrak line will not resume service for at least 2 days. Metrolink is running from Moorpark to Los Angeles, but not from Ventura, Oxnard, or Camarillo . More information

There has been a major mudslide at La Conchita - Updates will be posted as they are received. Please do not attempt to enter the area. Persons are being evacuated to Ventura County Seaside Park (Gem and Mineral Building) Follow this link for up-to-date press releases.

(January 11th) Lake Piru continues to be isolated. Residents are unable to enter or leave the city. Sections of Piru have been evacuated. Persons have been evacuated to Piru Elementary School. The dam is secure.

(January 11th - 7:29) Lake Piru residents are being allowed back into the homes

8:35 a.m. Highway 126 from Fillmore to Ventura is now open. Due to a mudslide on Hopper Canyon, Highway 126 from Fillmore to the County line is closed.

LA CONCHITA UPDATE
10:33 p.m.

Rescue operations have been suspended for the evening in La Conchita. Geologists have determined that the hill is extremely unstable.

The following are the latest numbers, more will be available tomorrow:

ANIMAL CONTROL

Ventura County Department of Animal Regulation is standing by for assistance with evacuated animals.

We have personnel at the Fillmore Veterans Memorial Building evacuation site, 511 Second St., Fillmoreand Piru Elementary School, 3811 East Center, Piru to accept dogs, cats and small animals from the evacuees.

We have personnel at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, Seaside Park, Ventura, Gem and Mineral Building, to accept dogs, cats and small animals from the evacuees.

Personnel are staged throughout the Ojai Valley to assist with the evacuation of animals.

Anyone in Ventura County needing assistance with animal(s) is urged to call Ventua County Animal Regulation at (805) 388-4143 ext. 7 or 0.

WATER INFORMATION

The following communities do not have water:

It will take 2 or more days to fix the broken water main. If you need further information, contact the Casitas Municipal Water District at 9805) 649-2253.

METROLINK INFORMATION

Metrolink trains will not operate from Montalvo, Oxnard or Camarillo Stations. Passengers who normally borad at Montalvo are asked to drive to the Oxnard station to board buses to the Moorpark Station. Trains that normally orginate at Oxnard will depart from Moorpark according to the regular schedule. Shared service train 103/A799, departing Union Station at 7:30 a.m. will operate only as far as Chatsworth. Shared service train 108/A768, departing Oxnard at 7:40 a.m., will not operate. Amtrak service north of Los Angeles will continue to be unavailable until further notice.
