Where can I obtain a shoulder patch or pin from your Department?

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department does not give away or exchange pins or patches. However, you may purchase them through the Ventura County Deputy Sheriff's Association (VCDSA) , a non-profit professional organization at:

Can I sign up to ride along with a Deputy while he/she is on patrol?

 Under certain conditions (age, criminal record, etc.) citizens who reside in the Ventura County area may participate in a patrol ride-along. The ride-along program is intended to provide members of the public with an opportunity to ride on a scheduled shift with a Deputy Sheriff. The program is designed to enhance your understanding of law enforcement and our organization. To obtain an application for a ride-along, and to schedule the ride-along, please contact the local area station in your neighborhood.

How can I obtain sex registrant information?

High-risk sex offenders registered in Ventura County can be viewed on our Sex Offenders page. The only way to access other sex registrant information is through a computer at a local law enforcement agency. Megan's Law information may be viewed at:

How do I file a complaint against a member of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department?

 A complaint must be made in writing by completing a Citizen Complaint Form (English) (Spanish). You may download and print this form on your printer or you may call or write one of our patrol stations to obtain one via mail. Once completed, the form can either be dropped off at one of our patrol stations, or mailed to the following address:

 How do I send a commendation about a member of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department?

  You can download a Commendation Form, print it and mail it to the following address:

How can I get a "fix-it" ticket signed off?

You may go to any police station in Ventura County, including the CHP office. You do not have to go to the agency that issued the fix-it ticket.
