Crime analysts package information from a variety of sources in a way that facilitates the identification of selected crimes in an area. The information can be further dissected to determine variables such as the times of day certain crimes tend to occur and the mode of operation used. Information such as this can assist investigators in capturing offenders and help patrol personnel concentrate efforts on problem areas. Crime analysts also network with other analysts around the county in an effort to identify problems and crime trends occurring across multiple jurisdictions.
