On April 16, 2014, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a female called 911 reporting she returned home and interrupted a burglary in progress.  The two unknown suspects held her against her will and sexually assaulted her.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office East County Major Crimes Bureau and Moorpark Police Department spent numerous hours investigating this incident.  During the investigation, several discrepancies were noted between the victim's statement and collected evidence.  Investigators re-contacted the victim several times about the case.  During the last week of August the victim admitted to fabricating the story.  She attributed her actions to difficulties she was experiencing in her personal life.
