Ojai Deputies Arrest Suspect After Vehicle Pursuit, Sawed-Off Shotgun Found in Vehicle

On 09/04/2014, at about 2330 hours, an Ojai Patrol unit attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation.  The vehicle failed to yield and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.  The vehicle stopped near N. Ventura Avenue and Highway 33.  Two suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.  A loaded sawed-off shotgun was found inside the vehicle.  Both Ojai and Headquarters Patrol units flooded the area and located one suspect, Jonathan Sanchez (25 years), who was a parolee at large.  Sanchez is a documented gang member and on active parole for assault with a deadly weapon.


Sanchez was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (PTDF) for the warrant, evading, and weapon violations with gang enhancements.  A parole hold was also placed on Sanchez.   


There is at least one suspect still outstanding for this incident.  The Sheriff's Gang Unit is working with Ojai Detectives on the case.  Anyone with information about this incident can call Detective Beau Rodriguez at (805) 654-3541.
