On October 5, 2015, Camarillo deputies arrested (S) Rashawn Hurdle for one count of armed robbery.

On October 5, 2015, at 9:45 AM, an employee of the Pizza Hut, located at 210 Arneill Road, in Camarillo was robbed at gunpoint in the rear parking lot of the business.  The employee was leaving the store to deposit monies from the store's weekend sales and was confronted by Hurdle after entering his vehicle.  Hurdle knocked on the employee's car door window and demanded he hand over the money.  The employee refused and Hurdle lifted his shirt and displayed a gun in his waistband.  The employee refused again and began to back out of his parking stall.  Hurdle broke the employee's driver's window, reached into the vehicle and took the bank deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of money.  Hurdle was last seen fleeing northbound on Arneill Road.

The employee immediately called 911 and provided a description of the robbery suspect.  Deputies responding to the call observed a possible suspect in a dark colored vehicle, driving westbound on Ponderosa Drive. A few minutes later, a Camarillo detective responding to the call observed a subject, similar to the suspect description, standing in the intersection of Valle Lindo and Ponderosa Drive.  The detective saw that the subject appeared to be looking around frantically.  The detective turned his vehicle around to make contact with the subject and the subject began to run away.  The detective was able to stop and detain the subject.  The officer who saw the possible suspect leaving the area identified the subject the detective had detained as the same person.  The robbery victim also identified the subject being detained as the robbery suspect.

Detectives checked the area for the suspect vehicle and located the car a short distance away.  The vehicle, which was registered to Hurdle, was found to contain evidence from the robbery.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Hurdle was booked at the Pre Trial Detection Facility for first degree armed robbery.  His bail was set at $100,000.00.
