Narrative:

On October 9, 2015, Michael Rodriguez was arrested after a three week long investigation for committing numerous vehicle burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the cities of Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, and Oxnard. 

 

Detectives with the Thousand Oaks Police Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) and Investigations Bureau conducted an investigation into Michael Rodriguez after video evidence linked him to a vehicle burglary that occurred in the 300 block of Moorpark Road in the city of Thousand Oaks.  Through their investigation, detectives were able to link Michael Rodriguez to additional burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the cities of Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, and Oxnard. 

 

Michael Rodriguez is a habitual offender in Ventura County.  In addition to the charges he was arrested for today, he currently has three open cases in Ventura County Superior Court.  In November 2013, Rodriguez was arrested for 11377(a) H&S ' Possession of a Controlled Substance and 11364.1(a) H&S ' Possession of drug paraphernalia.  In February of 2014, Rodriguez was arrested for 2 counts of 459 PC ' Burglary, 466 PC ' Possession of burglary tools, 32 PC ' Accessory to a crime, 11377(a) H&S ' Possession of a controlled substance, and 11364.1(a) H&S ' Possession of drug paraphernalia.  In September 2014, Rodriguez was arrested for 466 PC ' Possession of burglary tools, and 148(a)(1) PC ' Resisting or delaying an officer.  Rodriguez was currently out on bail for all three of the above mentioned cases.  

 

  

Michael Rodriguez was arrested for 459 PC ' Burglary, 487(a) PC ' Grand Theft, 496 PC ' Possession of stolen property, and 484(a) PC ' Theft.  Rodriguez was booked into the Sheriff's Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is being held on $200,000 bail.  Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on October 13, 2015.

 

Thefts from vehicles, open garages, and front porches (package deliveries) continue to be one of the highest reported crimes in the city.  The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind the community to lock their cars, avoid leaving items of value in their cars, and to collect their delivered packages as soon as possible.
