On November 2, 2015, Investigators with the Moorpark Police Department and Ventura County Sheriff's East County Major Crimes arrested a suspect for a strong arm robbery that occurred earlier in the morning in a residential area.

At approximately 9:45 AM, the female victim was walking in the street when Raul Cruz approached her.  As Cruz got closer to the victim, he increased his speed and grabbed a purse that was around the victim's shoulder.  Cruz aggressively pulled the purse from the victim and then ran to a car that was stopped on the side of the road.  Cruz got into the vehicle and it drove away southbound out of the neighborhood.  The victim complained of pain to her left arm, but fortunately she was not seriously injured.

Investigators developed leads in the case which led them searching for the suspect in the City of Oxnard.  At approximately 6:00 PM, Cruz was located and arrested for second degree robbery.  Stolen property taken from the victim was recovered.  Cruz was booked into custody at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for one count of second degree robbery.  His bail is currently set at $50,000 dollars with his arraignment scheduled to be heard in Superior Court on November 04, 2015.
