On November 24, 2015 at about 5:30 PM, units from the Moorpark Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian injury traffic collision at the above location.  The decedent, Manuel Jimenez was walking northbound on the west side of the Moorpark Ave. in an unmarked crosswalk at the driveway for the Moorpark Town Center.  The driver of the vehicle, Jon Johnson was driving a pick-up truck northbound on Moorpark Ave. making a left turning movement into the driveway approach of the center.  The pick-up truck collided with Jimenez.  Jimenez was knocked backwards to the ground, sustaining life threatening injuries.

Johnson immediately stopped his truck, exited his vehicle, and called for police/medical assistance.  Moorpark deputies, Ventura County Fire personnel, and American Medical Response paramedics responded and assisted.  Jimenez was transported by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital where he later succumbed to injuries due to the traffic collision.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs does not appear to be a factor in this traffic collision at this time.  The cause of the traffic collision is still under investigation.  Anyone who may have been in the area and/or witnessed this traffic collision is asked to contact Deputy William Schneekloth (805) 299-1507 at the Moorpark Police Station, 610 Spring Road, Moorpark CA. 93021.
