On December 5th, 2015, Dustin Beverford was arrested for attempted murder and other charges related to an incident that occurred in Camarillo on December 4th, 2015.


On December 4th, at approximately 10:00 PM, deputies assigned to the Camarillo station responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of West Calle La Sombra in Camarillo.  Deputies on scene quickly determined that a male victim from Camarillo was struck in the head with a hatchet, causing a severe laceration on the top of his head.  The initial investigation revealed the suspect was Dustin Beverford from Oxnard.  The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he was treated for the injury.


Beverford initially fled the scene on foot and despite a lengthy search, he was not apprehended.  On December 5th, 2015, at approximately 7:00 PM, Beverford was located in Ventura, where he was arrested for attempted murder.  During his arrest, Beverford resisted arrest and made threats to the arresting deputies.  He was found to be in possession of prescription medication that was not prescribed to him, and he was in possession of tear gas. 


Additionally, during the course of the attempted murder investigation, deputies discovered Beverford made criminal threats to a witness in the original attempted murder investigation.  Beverford was also arrested for the criminal threats.


Beverford was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of attempted murder, threats to a peace officer, possession of prescription medication without a prescription, possession of tear gas by an addict and criminal threats.  His bail was set at $2 million.
