Narrative:

Male subject attacks deputy with a knife and deputy fires in self-defense.  Male dies at the hospital from his injuries.

 

On December 16, 2015, at approximately 1150 hours, a male subject contacted Sheriff's Dispatch and requested police to respond to the area of Carmen Drive and Daily Drive for a crime that was about to occur.  The male also told Dispatch he wanted to kill himself.  Deputies were dispatched to the area of Carmen Drive and Daily Drive in Camarillo.  Immediately upon the arrival of the first unit, the male approached the deputy while holding a knife in his hand in a threatening manner.  In fear for his life, the deputy pointed his firearm at the male and ordered the male to drop the knife several times.  The male refused to comply with the deputy's request and charged at the deputy.  The deputy discharged his firearm several times at the male. 

 

Medical personnel transported the male subject to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  The deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident.   Sheriff's Major Crimes are investigating the incident.  The investigation is still on-going.
