On January 23, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm, the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to Old Conejo Road at Wendy Drive in Newbury Park to an injury traffic collision. 


The collision occurred when a vehicle attempted to turn left onto southbound Wendy Drive, after exiting the southbound 101 freeway.  The driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and the vehicle left the roadway.  After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a signal light pole and came to a stop.   


Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to Los Robles Hospital.  The driver sustained moderate injuries, while the passenger sustained fatal injuries.  Both the driver's and passenger's identity are pending notification of the next of kin.


The collision is still under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Traffic Bureau.  Anyone who might have witnessed the collision or is aware of anyone that might have been involved in the collision, is asked to contact the Thousand Oaks Police Department at (805) 494-8271.
