Narrative:

In early January of 2016, a resident of the unincorporated area east of Ojai contacted the Ojai Police Department and reported that various jewelry items had been stolen from inside her home.  The victim in this case suspected that (S) Tammi Swim had stolen the jewelry when she was hired to clean the victim's house. Unfortunately, there was no evidence to connect a suspect to the theft.  The victim suspected the theft occurred sometime between September and December of 2015.

Detectives from the Ojai Station began investigating this case and worked with the victim.  They lured the suspect back up to the Ojai area by offering her more work.  Once in the area, detectives stopped Swim and detained her. They discovered that Swim was in possession of two pieces of jewelry that had been stolen from the victim during the listed time period in 2015.  Swim was wearing a $12,000.00 diamond pendant around her neck and she had a $7,000.00 diamond ring in her purse.  Swim was arrested for grand theft and both items were recovered and returned to the victim.  (A) John Schertzer was with Swim when she was stopped. Schertzer was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.  Swim and Schertzer were both booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

The Ojai Police Department is asking that anybody who has hired Swim to do house work contact Detective Will Hollowell if they have had items come up missing from their homes.
