Narrative:

The Camarillo Police Department is proud to announce their partnership with the Ventura County Office of Education, for a first ever Student Citizen Academy. The Student Citizen Academy is a brand new program developed in cooperation with the Camarillo Police Department and the Ventura County Office of Education. The goal of this program is to give high school students a chance to learn about the operations and responsibilities of law enforcement in Ventura County. Students attending the 12 week program were selected by the Ventura County Office of Education from high schools throughout Ventura County where they are enrolled in criminal justice classes. The students selected will get school credit for attending this program and will gain insight into the realm of public safety and community service. Students will additionally learn about the county's detention facilities, meet SWAT officers, learn about our Forensic Services Bureau, visit the heliport, meet bomb squad technicians, and meet a K-9 officer.  The classes are scheduled from March 2, 2016, through May 25, 2016. At the completion of the program, there will be a graduation ceremony with the Camarillo Chief of Police. There are no additional costs associated with this program to the students, the police department, or to the Ventura County Office of Education.

The Camarillo Police Department would like to thank the Ventura County Office of Education for this new and exciting partnership.
