Narrative:

On January 25, 2012, the Camarillo Police Department, Ventura County Fire Department, and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the area of Las Posas Road and Glenbrook Avenue to an injury traffic accident.  Initial reports were that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. 

 

Upon investigation, it was determined by deputies that Christopher Rowland was driving his 2009 Honda Odyssey van southbound on Glenbrook Avenue, approaching the intersection of Las Posas Road.  Nelly Ruelasvela was walking, pushing a stroller with her two children (3 months and 20 months).  Ruelasvela walking northbound on Carmen Drive, attempting to cross the intersection at Las Posas Road.  As Ruelasvela entered into the crosswalk to cross Las Posas Road, she was struck by Rowland as he made a left turn onto Las Posas Road from Glenbrook Avenue. 

 

Ruelasvela suffered significant but non-life threatening injuries.  She was transported to Saint John's/Pleasant Valley Hospital by AMR.  Her two children were also transported to the hospital as a precaution but did not suffer any injuries.
