Arrests Made in Recent School Burglaries

On 3/31/2016, at about 2:40AM, Moorpark patrol deputies responded to Mesa Verde Middle School reference an alarm call.  Upon arrival, deputies saw Karinna Cortez running from the school.  She was detained and subsequently arrested for Commercial Burglary.  Further investigation revealed Cortez and possibly two additional suspects broke into the school and stole property.  Over 100 iPad tablets were moved and staged in a place ready to be stolen from the school.  Additional stolen property was found in Cortez' possession.


Investigators from the Moorpark Police Department and the Ventura Sheriff's Special Crimes Unit identified Cory Fletcher as another suspect in the burglary.  Based on prior school related burglaries in the cities of Camarillo and Thousand Oaks, investigative units from the Camarillo Police Department and Thousand Oaks Police Department served search warrants in the 300 block of Riverpark Boulevard in Oxnard, and the 9000 block of Desoto Avenue in Chatsworth.  Investigators located over 150 iPad tablets, several laptop and desktop computers, stolen checks, and other electronic equipment determined to be stolen from school burglaries and residential burglaries in Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, and Los Angeles.  Fletcher was arrested for Commercial Burglary at his address on Riverpark Boulevard.


Investigators are in the process of contacting victims and searching for additional information reference these burglaries.  Fletcher is the owner of Dynamic Technologies, a computer repair and service company, based in Westlake Village, CA.  The Ventura County Sheriff's Office urges anyone having business dealings with Fletcher or Dynamic Technologies, whom may be a victim of a theft related crime, to contact Detective Ken Truitt at the Moorpark Police Department.  Photographs of some of the stolen property have been attached to this News Story.
