Narrative:           

 

Learn Mental Health First Aid!  It is a two part, 8 hour certified training to help someone developing a mental health problem or at risk of suicide or harm.  This innovative program offers concrete tools and answers key questions like 'What can I do if someone is in crisis''  'How do I approach someone in distress''   'What do I say''  'How can I help''   'Where can someone find help'' 

 

You will learn:

        About common mental health and substance use disorders                             

        Warning signs and symptoms of mental health problems 

        Potential risk factors  

        Local resources and supports

        A five step action plan:

'        Assess for risk of suicide or harm

'        Listen Non-judgmentally

'        Give reassurance and information

'        Encourage appropriate professional help

'        Encourage self-help and other support strategies
