This morning, at approximately 8:12 AM, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Avenida De Los Arboles, approaching N. Velarde Drive, when the forty-year-old male driver suffered a medical emergency.  As the driver lost control of his vehicle, it struck a curb before sideswiping a vehicle stopped at the stop sign.  The vehicle traveled over the southeast curb onto Wildwood Elementary School property, narrowly missing a crossing guard and two pedestrians.  The vehicle collided with a large boulder, coming to rest on the front lawn of the school.

Off-duty AMR paramedics were on scene and rendered first aid to the unconscious driver.  Two small children in the vehicle were not injured, and they were released to Wildwood School administrators to attend school.   The driver was transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment of his medical condition.  He is listed in stable condition.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department's Traffic Bureau would like to thank everyone who contributed their assistance during a very traumatic situation.  Due to quick response and reaction, a tragedy was diverted.
