Early Tuesday morning, Camarillo patrol deputies arrested a suspect during a burglary in progress at a local pharmacy.

On August 30, 2016, at 1:00 AM, Camarillo patrol deputies responded to an alarm call in the 1200 block of Paseo Camarillo.  Almost simultaneously, the deputies were summoned to respond to a separate alarm call in the 400 block of Arneill Rd.

The deputies who responded to the Paseo Camarillo alarm call observed that the windows to several local businesses had been smashed, but did not locate any suspects at the scene.

The deputies who responded to the alarm call on Arneill Rd, observed the front window to the pharmacy at the location had been smashed.  The deputies saw what appeared to be a flashlight illuminating the interior of the pharmacy.  As the deputies approached the front of the business, they encountered (S) Joseph Propernick inside of the business holding a crowbar in one hand and a cellphone, with the flashlight app on, in the other hand.  Propernick was also wearing a backpack containing multiple pharmaceuticals that had been stolen from the business.  The deputies detained and arrested Propernick without incident.

Camarillo detectives interviewed Propernick and he admitted to the pharmacy burglary and to also burglarizing several businesses in the 1200 block of Paseo Camarillo.  Detectives searched Propernick's car and recovered property that was taken from the burglaries on Paseo Camarillo.  Detectives also recovered property from a jewelry store burglary that occurred on August 28, 2016 in the City of Camarillo.  Propernick admitted to the jewelry store burglary as well.

Propernick was arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for four counts of commercial burglary and one count of attempted commercial burglary.  His bail was set at $50,000.00.
