The Camarillo Police Department is actively recruiting citizen volunteers to join their Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART).


In 1990, the city of Camarillo recognized the benefit of having a citizen's response group that could be activated to assist emergency service workers in the event of disaster or large scale emergency, and by way of a City Council resolution, the Camarillo Disaster Assistance Response Team was formed. DART members undergo continuous training in Basic Life Support, First Aid, CPR, Urban Search and Rescue, Mass Casualty Management and Triage, Traffic and Crowd Control, and Fire Suppression.


DART members wear uniforms and several members are Emergency Medical Technicians.  The Camarillo DART has members of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and talents. Anyone who is interested and meets the following criteria are encouraged to apply: Must be 18 years of age, live or work in the city of Camarillo, be in good health, have a strong desire to serve the community, complete 80 hours of core Community Emergency Response Team training, pass a background check, and have the ability to attend monthly meetings held on the third Wednesday of each month.
