On December 21, 2016 at approximately 6:51 p.m. deputies from the Ojai Police Department responded to a physical domestic incident in the 10000 block of Creek Road.  Once on scene, deputies learned that during the altercation, Colin Meyer, used a knife and cut the victim's face and throat.  The female victim sustained a very deep laceration that was approximately twelve inches long narrowly missing her carotid artery.  Meyer fled the scene in his vehicle.


The female victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where she underwent treatment that included surgery. 


During the investigation, Meyer was located in the 2200 block of Elizabeth Street in the city of Ventura.  A search warrant was authored and served with the assistance of the Ventura Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).  Meyer was taken into custody.  Meyer sustained a self-inflicted knife wound and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center.


Meyer was arrested for Domestic Violence, Aggravated Mayhem, and Attempt Homicide and booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.  Meyer's bail is currently $1,000,000 dollars.
