Jordan Mustain is an inmate at the Ventura County Pre-Trail Detention Facility. On February 28, 2016, Inmate Mustain battered inmate Raymond Davenport inside the Main Jail.  After the altercation, while being escorted by staff, Mustain made statements indicating the battery was committed on behalf of a prison gang.


Sheriff's Deputies assigned to the Pre-Trail Detention Facility and the Pre-Trail Detention Facility Classification Unit investigated the incident. Based on the facts surrounding the incident, Mustain was arrested for PC242 ' Battery, as well as, PC186.22(d) ' Participation in a Criminal Street Gang. The case was submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. On January 12, 2017, Mustain was sentenced to 365 days in jail and 36 months probation for the above offenses.


Due to recent legislation changes at the state level and prison realignment, the Ventura County Jails are experiencing a large increase in the amount of violence and the number of crimes that occur in the jails. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office works diligently to ensure the safety and security of the jails and the safety of inmates. In incidents where crimes do occur in the county jails, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office will exhaust all resources to hold those responsible for victimizing other inmates accountable.
