Narrative:

Ventura County Sheriff's Technical Communications Specialist Nicole Tucker has been selected as the 2017 Public Safety Dispatcher of the Year. She will be honored at the annual Dispatcher Awards Banquet at California State University, Channel Islands on April 9, 2017. Nicole was selected by her peers and supervisors to receive this award, which is presented to the outstanding dispatcher for their exemplary work and contributions to public safety and the residents of Ventura County.

Nicole has been a dispatcher with the Sheriff's Office since February of 2011. During his time with the Sheriff's Office, Nicole has become a consummate team player and is one of the many dispatchers who work tirelessly to ensure that each emergency is responded to effectively and every caller receives the assistance they need. In addition to her challenging primary assignment, she trains newly hired dispatchers and we are lucky to have someone such as Nicole passing along her empathetic attributes to her trainees.

Sheriff dispatchers answer, assess, and refer 9-1-1 calls, and business calls that come into the Sheriff's Office. They are responsible for dispatching and coordinating patrol response to calls for service and at times, responsible for up to 70 patrol deputies in the field. Dispatchers are among the first responders to emergency incidents and are expected to remain calm, professional, and proficient at all times. Nicole's peers can attest that she executes all of the above attributes while answering 9-1-1 and business calls or dispatching deputies on the radio.

Congratulations to Nicole Tucker for being selected as the Ventura County Sheriff's Office's 2017 Dispatcher of the Year.
