On April 5, 2017, investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Special Crimes Unit/Intelligence conducted an investigation into Ernesto Salvador Flores, a known gang member from the City of Oxnard.  The Special Crimes Unit is comprised of investigators from the Sheriff's Office and includes an investigator from the Oxnard Police Department. 


During the investigation, investigators learned Flores had an outstanding felony warrant for violation of Penal Code section 246-Discharging a firearm into a vehicle.  The warrant was obtained by Oxnard Police Department investigators stemming from an incident that occurred on March 29, 2017 in the city of Oxnard.  Investigators also learned there was probable cause to arrest Flores for violation of Penal Code sections 422-Criminal Threats and 273.5-Domestic violence from an incident being investigated by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.


On April 5, 2017, investigators with the Special Crimes Unit obtained information about the whereabouts of Flores.  With the assistance of investigators from the Major Crimes Bureau, investigators located Flores inside a bar in the 2100 Block of Pickwick Drive in the city of Camarillo.  Flores was contacted and arrested for the outstanding felony warrant. 


During a search of Flores' person, investigators located an unregistered and loaded firearm in his waistband.  During a search of a vehicle associated with Flores, investigators located more ammunition and approximately 118 grams of methamphetamine. 


Flores has past felony convictions that prohibit him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition.  Flores subsequently booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for Penal Code sections 29800 (a)(1)-Possession of firearm by prohibited person, 30305 (a)(1)-Possession of ammunition by prohibited person, 25400 (a)(2)-Carry a concealed firearm upon a person and Health and Safety Code section 11378-Possession for sale of a controlled substance.  Flores' bail was approved and set at $300,000.
