The Thousand Oaks Police Department is celebrating the work of our volunteers during National Volunteer Week, April 23-29.  Police Department Volunteers include Volunteers in Policing (V.I.P.), Disaster Assistance Response Teams (D.A.R.T.), Search and Rescue (S.A.R.) and Law Enforcement Explorers.

These highly skilled teams offer over 150 members in volunteer services and they contributed over 31,500 volunteer hours in 2016.  They are utilized for daily in support duties and are consistently used on significant events/incidents.  Whether it be taking a police report, performing a complex rescue, coordinating a search, or providing additional support to operations, they are a vital resource for us to serve our community when we need it most.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department sends its gratitude to all our volunteers who help accomplish our mission.  Volunteerism is a critical service to our citizens and we thank all citizens in the community as well who dedicate time to volunteer in so many ways.  If you are interested in becoming a member of our volunteer teams or want to find out more, visit www.vcsd.org and click on the 'Careers & Volunteers' tab on the homepage.
