Narrative:

On 5/16/17, at approximately 5:00 pm, an Ojai Valley resident called the Sheriff's Office to report he had been the victim of a residential burglary the same day.  Ojai patrol deputies responded to the crime scene and evidence related to the crime was collected.  It was determined that an answering machine had been stolen, along with a newly purchased 1.40 carat diamond ring with a price of $5,397.00.

During the initial investigation, the victim's ex-wife Lisa Brokaw appeared to be a possible suspect.  Ojai Detectives conducted an extensive follow-up investigation and surveillance on Brokaw who was subsequently contacted.  Brokaw confessed to the burglary crime and she ultimately led Ojai Detectives to a hiding place where the stolen diamond ring and answering machine were both recovered.

On 05/19/2017, Ojai Detectives arrested Lisa Brokaw at her residence located in the 1900 block of Poli Street in the city of Ventura.  Brokaw was arrested for residential burglary and she was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail where she remains in jail with a bail set at $50,000.00.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office would like to remind all residents of the Ojai Valley to be diligent with the security of their homes and vehicles.  Ensure all doors and gates are secured, do not leave valuables visible inside your vehicle, and do not allow newspapers and mail to pile up.  Most importantly, do not hesitate to call the Ventura County Sheriff's Office if you suspect any suspicious activity.  The non-emergency phone line is (805) 654-9511, or 911 for all emergencies.
