At about 2:15 PM, patrol deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute, which occurred in the City of Camarillo.  During the investigation, deputies learned the victim was battered by Winthrope Ware, to whom the victim has been married for 23 years. Ware left the residence prior to the deputies' arrival, but he was located and arrested a short time later.

Ware was booked into custody at the Ventura County Main Jail, for attempted murder and domestic battery.  His bail was set at $500,000.
