On July 27th 2017, detectives assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department concluded a three week investigation by arresting Jose Manuel Orozco for residential burglary and elder abuse. 


Beginning June 26th 2017, Thousand Oaks deputies took a series of theft reports from elderly residents living at the Sunrise Senior Living home.  The victims ranged in age from 78 to 98 and all reported missing jewelry and cash.  Thousand Oaks detectives worked with administrators at the Sunrise Senior Living home and identified an employee named Jose Manuel Orozco as a likely suspect.  Orozco worked as a caretaker and had unrestricted access to the entire facility. 


On July 27th 2017, detectives served a search warrant at Orozco's home and were able to recover some of the stolen property.  Orozco was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Jail for four felony counts of residential burglary, three felony counts of elder abuse by caretaker and one misdemeanor count of elder abuse by caretaker.
