On 03/24/2017, a robbery occurred at the Daniel's Jewelers located in the Camarillo Outlet Mall in Camarillo.  At about 1933 hours, a Hispanic male entered Daniel's Jewelers armed with a semi-automatic handgun and threatened employees.  The suspect stole over $100,000 worth of merchandise before fleeing the store.  No one was injured during the incident.


Over the next several months, with the assistance of the Sheriff's Crime Lab, Sheriff's Major Crimes detectives identified (S) Francisco Hernandez as the robbery suspect.  Hernandez was also identified as a suspect in a Ventura Police Department bank robbery case. 


On 07/12/2017, detectives from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit and officers from the Ventura Police Department executed a search warrant at Francisco Hernandez' residence in the City of Ventura.  Hernandez was taken into custody at the time of the warrant by the Ventura Police Department.  During the warrant service, evidence linking Hernandez to both the bank robbery and the Daniel's Jewelers robbery was located. 


On 07/31/2017, Sheriff's Major Crimes detectives arrested Hernandez, who was in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, for the Daniel's Jewelers robbery.  Hernandez is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court for arraignment on 08/02/2017, at 1330 hours.  His bail is currently set at $500,000.
