Residents are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings.  If you see something occurring that you think is suspicious, or someone who is suspicious, you should note it, and contact the Camarillo Police Department.  For safety reasons, police never want to encourage witnesses to intervene in the apprehension of criminals.  However, we do encourage people to be good witnesses.  In this case, the witness contacted the homeowner and when a crime was confirmed, the homeowner was able to provide suspect information to the police.

Studies have shown that it's a small percentage of criminals who commit a large percentage of crimes.    Any information that witnesses can provide, can improve the chances of suspects being apprehended.
