Narrative:

On August 28, 2017, detectives assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department's Auto Crimes Unit arrested a 15 year old male juvenile following the investigation of an Oak Park area Hot Prowl residential burglary and theft of a vehicle.

On August 27, 2017, a deputy from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a report of a residential burglary in the area of Rosehedge Lane and Conifer Street in the Oak Park area.  The victim reported sometime during the night, while he and his family were sleeping, a suspect entered their home through an unlocked front door and stole his wallet, car keys and other belongings.  The deputy processed the scene and turned the investigation over to detectives.

Later that evening, at about 10:00 PM, the suspect returned to the residence and stole the victim's car. As deputies were responding to take an additional crime report, the suspect returned to the area in the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.  Responding deputies set up a perimeter and used a K-9 to search the area.  The K-9 tracked the unknown suspect from the abandoned stolen vehicle to a residence about three blocks away.  The suspect was not located and the deputies cleared the call.

On August 29, 2017, detectives assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department's Auto Crimes Unit canvassed the area where the K-9 tracked the suspect.  Investigators identified a possible suspect and located evidence that linked him to the stolen vehicle and the hot prowl residential burglary.  Detectives located and arrested the male juvenile suspect for 459 PC ' Residential Burglary and 10851(a) VC ' Vehicle Theft.  The suspect was lodged into Juvenile Hall.  Investigators also discovered the suspect is wanted for two counts of residential burglary in Los Angeles County.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind the community to lock their residences and vehicles.  If members of the community observe any suspicious subjects or circumstances, they are encouraged to contact Sheriff's Dispatch by calling 9-1-1 or (805) 654-9511 (non-emergency).
