A month-long investigation involving the theft of personal property, theft of a vehicle, and identity

theft, culminated in the arrest of the three criminal conspirators.

On December 15, 2017 at approximately 2008 hours, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police

Department responded to the Janss Mall for a reported vehicle theft in progress.

The victim reported that she arrived at the Golds Gym at approximately 1925 hours to work out.

The victim placed her personal belongings, including her wallet and car keys, into an unlocked

locker in the women's locker room. The victim completed her workout and went to retrieve her

personal belongings discovering that they were missing. The victim quickly ran out to the nearby

parking structure and saw and unknown female driving away in her silver 2010 Kia Forte.

The victim subsequently discovered that her credit cards were fraudulently used in nearby

businesses. Deputies conducted an initial investigation and were able to obtain surveillance

footage of a suspect using the stolen credit cards. The victim positively identified the person

recorded in the surveillance video as the suspect who stole her car.

Investigators from the Thousand Oaks Police Department were able to identify the suspect as

Ashley Crawford of Agoura Hills. On January 9, 2018, Detectives conducted surveillance on

Crawford and followed her to the JC Penny's department store located in the Oaks Mall. During

the surveillance, Detectives observed Crawford steal numerous items of clothing from the store.

Detectives coordinated with patrol personnel and arrested Crawford for shoplifting. A search of

her vehicle uncovered several stolen credit cards and a small amount of heroin. In addition,

Crawford had active warrants out of Los Angeles County for petty theft and possession of other

people's personal identifying information. She was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

On January 10, 2018, detectives located the victim's vehicle at a residence in Agoura Hills.

During the investigation, they contacted Courtney Clements and determined she possessed the

stolen vehicle. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and located additional

stolen property. Clements, who also had a felony warrant for grand theft out of Kern County,

was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail.

Shortly after Clements arrest, detectives identified Jerica Henning as a third suspect involved in

the thefts. On January 16, 2018, detectives located and arrested Henning in the City of Santa

Clarita. Upon arrest, Henning was found to be in possession of one of the victims' identification

cards. Henning was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

All three subjects remain in custody awaiting trial.
