On 09/26/2017, two robberies occurred in the City of Camarillo. At about 3:15 A.M., a masked male entered 7-Eleven on Carmen Drive, near Daily Drive, while armed with a weapon. The suspect threatened and assaulted the clerk before stealing cash from the register and fleeing the store. Fortunately, the clerk did not sustain any injuries.

At about 09:15 A.M. (just 6 hours after the first robbery), a masked male suspect entered the Baja Fresh Restaurant located in the 1800 block of E. Daily Drive in Camarillo. Upon entering the restaurant, the suspect brandished a firearm and threatened several employees. Ultimately, the suspect stole cash from the cash drawer and fled the area on foot.

Over the next couple days, detectives identified (S) Martin Prado as a possible suspect in both robberies. Detectives also identified an associate of Martin Prado as a possible accomplice to at least one of the robberies. Martin Prado is currently on probation with search terms for an unrelated offense.

On 10/11/2017, detectives executed a probation search at Prado's residence in Camarillo and a search warrant at a residence in Port Hueneme. During the searches, evidence linking Prado and his associate to the 7-Eleven robbery was located and both were taken into custody.

Over the next few months, detectives continued their investigation and located additional evidence linking Prado to the Baja Fresh robbery.

On 01/31/2018, Prado was arrested for PC 211 ' [Robbery] and PC 29815 ' [Possession of a Firearm While on Probation]. He was still in custody for the 7-Eleven robbery at the time of the arrest for the Baja Fresh robbery. Prado is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court for arraignment on the Baja Fresh robbery on 02/02/2018. Prado's bail is currently set at $65,000 for the 7-Eleven robbery and $50,000 for the Baja Fresh robbery.
