On February 25, 2018 at about 10:30 AM, the Ventura County Sheriff Communication Center received a report of a reckless/ possible drunk driver in the area of South Victoria Avenue and Kiddie Beach in the Silverstrand area of Oxnard.  A responding patrol officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation.  A slow speed pursuit ensued for about 5 minutes traveling through the City of Port Hueneme.  The driver stopped at the entrance gate to Naval Base Ventura County located at Ventura Road and Sunkist Avenue.  The vehicle stopped outside the security gate of the base and never attempted to enter the Naval Base.

Over the next several hours, Sheriff's patrol deputies and negotiators from the Tactical Negotiation Unit attempted to speak with the driver of the vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle refused to respond to the deputies or comply with simple commands.  At one point, the suspect removed a majority of his clothing and displayed other bizarre behaviors.

At about 2:00 PM, once all communication efforts had failed, Sheriff's Deputies used less than lethal weapons to safely arrest the driver.  He was identified as Ryan Faberbrook from the Los Angeles area.  He was treated at the scene by medical personnel for minor injuries received during the arrest.

It is unclear why Faberbrook fled from patrol deputies or refused to cooperate at the conclusion of the pursuit.  Faberbook was booked into Ventura County Jail for evading an officer and resisting arrest.
