Thousand Oaks Police Dept. Hosting 'Avoid the 14' D.U.I. / Driver's License Checkpoint

Nature of Incident: Avoid the 14 DUI / License Checkpoint

Location: Thousand Oaks

Date & Time/ RB#: July 2nd, 2011 / 6:00 pm until midnight

Unit Responsible: Thousand Oaks Police Department's Traffic Bureau

Narrative: On July 2nd, 2011 the Thousand Oaks Police Department will be hosting an 'Avoid the 14' multi-agency DUI Checkpoint. 'Avoid the 14' represents the 14 law enforcement agencies in Ventura County who are involved in a grant the Oxnard Police Department obtained through the Office of Traffic Safety. The grant calls for multi-agency cooperation on DUI Checkpoints with the intention of increasing DUI awareness during holidays, as well as acting as a deterrent to driving while intoxicated.

This Checkpoint will be on July 2nd, 2011 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and midnight at an undisclosed location in the City of Thousand Oaks. A variety of officers from multiple agencies in the County will be assisting the Thousand Oaks Police Department with this checkpoint.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
