In May 2012, two women were assaulted on two different occasions in the Carmen Plaza shopping center parking lot in Camarillo.  The suspect in both cases preyed on women while they shopped in the local businesses and followed them to their cars where he assaulted them.  In one of the cases, the suspect confronted the victim at her vehicle.  The suspect told the victim he was a loss prevention officer and directed the woman to exit her car so he could search her.  When the victim complied, he assaulted her by groping her buttocks.

Detectives received several 'Crime Stopper' tips that were instrumental in identifying the suspect in this case.  Anyone with information regarding any other unreported crimes involving this suspect are encouraged to call detectives.

This is also a good opportunity to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings, especially in the evening hours in dimly lit parking lots.  Also, whenever someone verbally identifies himself or herself as security, loss prevention, etc. they should present you with some form of identification.  If they don't, call the police and we will respond to investigate.
