A 4 year-old boy reported missing from a residence at a Santa Paula ranch was later found after a lengthy search.  The boy was staying with family members at the ranch and left the residence on a walk at about 10:40 a.m. this morning.  The boy was found in a ravine by Sheriff's Search and Rescue team members at about 3:30 p.m.  He was alert and responsive, and was later transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

In concern for the unseasonably hot outdoor conditions, a multitude of Sheriff's resources quickly responded in the search for the missing boy.  Two Search and Rescue teams were deployed, including four Search and Rescue K-9's.  The Sheriff's Aviation Unit dedicated over five hours of flight time in the search.  Sheriff's patrol deputies, two Sheriff patrol K-9's, and Sheriff's investigators also assisted in the search for the missing boy.  In total, over 50 responders assisted in the search.

Ventura County's emergency notification system, 'VC Alert,' quickly notified over 1,000 residents in the immediate area via phone messages to be on the lookout for the missing boy.
