Moorpark Police Department Officer of the Year Announced

Nature of Information: Moorpark Officer of the Year

Deputy Chris Starks has been selected as the 2011 Moorpark Station Officer of the Year. The award is sponsored by the Noontime Rotary Club of Moorpark. Deputy Starks was selected for this award by the majority of his peers due to his exceptional work ethic and the fact he continually takes great pride and compassion in serving the residents of Moorpark. He has been with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office for over 12 years, has worked in the Detention Services and Patrol Services Divisions, and is currently assigned as a School Resource Officer in the City of Moorpark. As a deputy assigned to the Moorpark Schools, Chris has a passion to work with the youth in the community and assist them in making good choices.

In addition:

During 2010, Chris became a member of the Sheriff's Bomb Team, a collateral assignment with the responsibility of investigating hazardous explosives and responding to suspicious devices throughout Ventura County.
He continually motivates his peers to do more to solve problems in the community as a team.
He has a great and caring attitude towards his peers and the community.

Whenever Chris is on duty, he remains very active and always seems to have something going on, which is a testament to his solid work ethic and passion for the members of the community he serves and the Law Enforcement profession in general.

A luncheon in Deputy Starks' honor will be held by the Rotary Club of Moorpark at the Moorpark Country Club at noon on May 20, 2011.
