On 04-07-13, at approximately 4:30 AM, the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a call of a burglary in progress at 711 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard. A citizen reported seeing three subjects wearing masks and hoodies forcing entry into the rear of the business. Very shortly thereafter, the subjects exited the business and drove away with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise belonging to the business. A description of the vehicle was provided as the vehicle was leaving the scene.
Deputies arrived quickly and observed a vehicle matching the description driving in the area. The deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle would not stop. After a short pursuit the vehicle was involved in a traffic collision. The suspects fled on foot into a nearby residential area.
An extensive search was conducted and several K9 units and the helicopter responded. One suspect was located hiding in the area and taken into custody. The other suspects remain at large. Detectives are continuing the investigation.
