Date & Time:

Unit(s) Responsible:

Moorpark Police Department 610 Spring Rd., Moorpark CA. 93021

The Moorpark Unified School District enjoyed its first day of school on August 21, 2012. The Moorpark Police Department took part in monitoring traffic operations at all schools in Moorpark District.  Additional law enforcement personnel were staffed for the opening day.  Overall school staff, parents, and students were able to get to their designated schools without incident on the first and very special day for all.

The Moorpark Police Department would like to remind parents to allow plenty of time to arrive safely and be patient while operating a motor vehicle in school zones, this includes dropping off and or picking up children.  Traffic in our school zones typically get backed up for a short time during pick up and drop off times.  It is every driver's responsibility to obey all traffic laws and drive with courtesy and care in and around school zones, this also includes school staff, parents, and students who drive to school.

The Moorpark Police Department will be visible around our schools throughout the year.  In the next few weeks you can expect heightened enforcement of all traffic laws in our school zones to help ensure the safety of the students.  The Moorpark Police Department would like to remind our community that all violations especially speeding, failure to stop for school bus displaying red lights, seatbelt violations, provisional license violations, and distracted driving will be strictly enforced in school zones.
