On Tuesday night, at about 11:12 PM, Westin Yacoobian, 21 yrs., was driving southbound on Westlake Boulevard approaching Potrero Road.  For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a street sign and collided with a tree.  The impact with the tree caused debris from the Ford Focus to be scattered all over the roadway.  Yacoobian was able to extricate himself from the vehicle prior to the deputies' arrival on scene.  He was transported to Los Robles Hospital where he was admitted and treated for minor injuries.


In the past several months, the city of Thousand Oaks has experienced a number of major injury collisions and fatalities on Westlake Boulevard.  Unsafe Speed has been a contributing factor in all of the collisions.  The Thousand Oaks Police Department's Traffic Bureau is asking for drivers to be diligent in their efforts to maintain safe speeds while driving on city and county roadways.
