The Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services, Ventura County Information Technology Services, Ventura County Fire Protection District and many other local agencies will be participating in a 'Radio Rodeo' on Tuesday, October 8th, 2013.  The 'Radio Rodeo' is an exercise to test the ability of emergency response agencies to communicate with each other, and across county lines.  Counties planning on participating on site include Ventura, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Kern.  Other counties are holding similar events throughout Southern California.

Mobile Command Posts from many Counties and agencies will be set up and tested Tuesday. This exercise is designed to test and evaluate our capability to communicate during a catastrophic event that impacts our normal communications systems or during events where public safety agencies cross jurisdictional lines to assist with efforts to preserve life, limb and property.

More than 20 Mobile Command Posts will be tasked with testing radio systems on-site, and over distances. Amateur Radio Operators will also be testing their systems throughout Southern California alongside first responders.

The participating Command Posts will be available for public viewing from 11:30 A.M. to close of the exercise.
