Statistically, over 3 million older adults fall victim to scams each year.  Criminals associated with these scams are very skilled at taking money from older adults and continue to develop new ways to scam the unsuspecting victims.  With education and awareness, people will be less likely to fall victim to these scams.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department is offering a free anti-scam presentation on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at the Goebel Adult Community Center, 1385 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

The presentation will feature information on the different scams currently being used and what law enforcement is seeing locally.  Please plan on attending and learn how to spot the signs of common scams initiated over the phone, through the mail, or via email.  More importantly, learn how to avoid them over the holidays and through the New Year.
