On December 2, 2013 at 01:35 hrs., deputies from the Moorpark Police Department conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.  The driver yielded in the area of S/R 118 and Mira Sol Dr. in the City of Moorpark.  As the driver was being initially contacted by the deputy, he sped off from the location evading deputies.  A pursuit was initiated at which time a second Sheriff's unit joined to assist.  The driver refused to yield and attempted to evade deputies at high speed westbound S/R 118.  During the vehicle pursuit, speeds reached 95 MPH as the vehicle continued west on S/R 118.  As the driver was attempting to negotiate the curves in the roadway in the area of S/R 118 @ La Vista, the vehicle collided with the guardrail and crossed the roadway, and came to rest upright on the dirt embankment.  As the pursuing deputies pulled up to the scene, the driver continued to evade deputies and fled on foot into a nearby orchard.  Deputies located three passengers who were in the vehicle which were extricated and treated at the scene by Ventura County Fire and AMR paramedics.  All three passengers were transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for evaluation and additional treatment.  Other than the passengers in the vehicle, no one else was injured.

An extensive search for the suspect was conducted by deputies, a Sheriff's K-9 team, and a Sheriff's Aviation Unit helicopter with negative results.   The California Highway Patrol is handling the collision portion of the investigation.  The suspect in this case is currently wanted for felony evading and Hit & Run.  During the subsequent investigation by SED/Gang investigators, passenger Richard Gomez was interviewed and arrested on a previous 10851 CVC Theft of Vehicle case.
