In the early morning hours of January 5, 2014, Troy Zaslove, 21 yrs., was driving his VW Passat westbound on Thousand Oaks Boulevard when the vehicle drove onto the center median and collided with a tree, completely shearing the tree off at its base.  The vehicle then continued westbound in the eastbound lanes approximately three hundred and sixty-five feet where it drove onto the south sidewalk and struck another tree.  That impact caused the engine and front axle to separate from the vehicle. The vehicle then continued westbound approximately fifty feet on the sidewalk, coming to rest at the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Via Merida, just missing the traffic control box on the southeast corner of the intersection.  It appears that alcohol and speed contributed to the cause of the accident.  The collision is currently under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau, and anyone who may have information concerning the incident or witnessed the collision is encouraged to call the Thousand Oaks Police Department's Traffic Bureau.
