On 2/6/14, Jonathon Spear was arrested in Newbury Park after a resident returned home and discovered Spear in her house.


On 2/6/14, at about 1400 hours, a Newbury Park resident returned home and discovered a man in her house attempting to burglarize it. The suspect ran out of the house and fled in a vehicle. The victim notified a neighbor who located the suspect vehicle driving in the area. Police were called and an investigative stop was made on the vehicle. Police detained Jonathon Spear and a female who was inside the vehicle and conducted a burglary investigation.


The investigation revealed that Jonathon Spear was in the middle of the burglary when it was interrupted by the home owner. Several items inside the house were left behind, as the suspect was confronted getting ready to exit the house with the property.


Spear has previous ties to the Newbury park area. He was booked on one count of residential burglary and booked into the Ventura County Jail.
