This morning, at approximately 1:55 AM, (P) Rachel Blaznek was driving her vehicle eastbound on Avenida De Las Flores at SR23 when she struck (V) Christopher Gideon, as he was walking in the bike lane.  Gideon suffered severe injuries and was transported via AMR to Los Robles Hospital where he remains in critical condition.  Blaznek was not injured in the accident.  At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol is a factor in this collision.


This incident is currently under investigation by the Thousand Oaks Police Department's Traffic Bureau.  Anyone who may have information regarding the collision is asked to call the Traffic Bureau at 805-494-8271.


The month of April is Distracted Driver Awareness month. The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind drivers to obey the rules of the road and to refrain from using electronic devices while driving a motor vehicle.
